Fine art undergraduates from the Arts University at Bournemouth (AUCB, formerly the Arts Institute) are transforming Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens into an ornamental public playground in which to exhibit a collection of new art works inspired by the gardens themselves. For the second time in the history of the seven year project, the selected students will exhibit alongside a lead artist, in 2010 this will be Victoria Wareham, an AUCB graduate.
The free, public exhibition in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens runs from Saturday 1 May to Monday 10 May between 10am – 5pm. Pick up a free map of the art works from the exhibition information point.
The opening night is Friday 30 April 2010 from 6pm to 9pm, when all the artists involved in Pick 'n' Mix, including the performance artists, will be in Bournemouth's Lower Gardens. The after party will be held at Sixty Million Postcards nearby. Free entry, all are invited. Join the exhibition Facebook group here, and receive an invitation to the opening each year.
The annual exhibition is a collaborative project that has been developed in partnership between the Arts Institute Bournemouth, and Bournemouth Borough Council’s Arts Development and Parks and Countryside departments, since 2003.
Pick 'n' Mix responds to the visual and historical qualities of the Lower Gardens, and aims to engage visitors of all ages.
