Concerto Incognito
As this year’s Lead Artist for the 2010 Bournemouth Gardens Art project, Victoria will be exhibiting a sound piece titled, ‘Concerto Incognito’ which will be played from the bandstand situated at the heart of the Lower Gardens. A bizarre mixture of vocal intonations, tones and syncopation, the work requires the viewer to take a leap of the imagination and asks us to challenge historical fact against local mythology.
Victoria's practice is centred on the creation of multi-media installations that present the viewer with a choice: to perform or to observe. Her work is comical, exploring notions of authenticity, integrity, role-play and media mediation that directly addresses the viewer, challenging our desire to transcend from inactive observer into active participant.
